PETITION FOR YEAR'S SUPPORT -- REPORT OF COMMISSIONERS
Mecklenburg COUNTY Mallard Creek TOWNSHIP.
In the Matter of Mrs Mary E. Hoover } Report of Commissioners Widow, &c.
THE UNDERSIGNED, W E Alexander Justice of the Peace and Wm D Alexander and Martin Oehler Commissioners, duly summoned and sworn, do hereby assign and alot to Mrs Mary E Hoover widow of S S Hoover deceased, the following articles of personal property of the value annexed, to wit:
6000 Six thousand lbs cotton in seed Valued at (75) Seventy five "bu" corn Forage fodder tops & hay (2) Two cows and calves (2) Two Mules $50.00 each (1) One hack and harness (1) Wagon and years farming tools & Shop tools (200) Two hundred lbs bacon (6) Six Shoats Total
We also find upon examination, that the number of the family of the said Widow, exclusive of herself, is Three. There being a defiency of the articles on hand to make up the year's support, and we access such defiency at Two Hundred and forty eight Dollars, to be paid by the personal representative. This 5 day of February 1897
Laws of 1868-'9, Chapt. 93 Sec. 14 -- The Commissioners shall make and sign three lists of the articles assigned to the widow, stating the quantity and value of each, the number of the family, and the deficiency to be paid by the personal representative. One of these lists shall be delivered to the widow, one to the personal representative, and one returned by the Justice, within twenty days after the assignment to the Superior Court of the County, and the Clerk shall file and record the same and enter judgment against the personal representatives, to be paid when the assets shall come into his hands, for any residue found in favor of the widow.
North Carolina } Mecklenburg County } The foregoing Year's allowance to Mary E. Hoover, widow of S. S. Hoover, Jr, deceased, having been filed and recorded and it appearing therefrom that a deficiency in favor of said widow exists to the amount of $248.00 It is now ordered by the Court that Judgment be entered therefore against H. N. Pharr, adm of said decd, in favor of said widow This May 1/97
