                    To the worshipful the Justices of the court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
          The petition of Stanhope S. Hoover and Samuel L. Hoover by his Guardian S. S. Hoover hereby shewith unto your worships that your petitioners are the heirs at Law & divisees of their father the late Philip Hoover and that the sd Philip Hoover died in this county [      ] and by his last will & testament left your petitioners tenants in common of a tract or parcel of land being in this sd county of Mecklenburg & State aforesaid lying upon the waters of Catawba River adjoining the lands George Cathy Johnathan Reid William Porter & others contaning about 230 acres more or less -- Your petitioners further show unto your worships that they are the only tenants in common or owners of said Land & that they are the said Stanhope Hoover is of full age & that Said Samuel Hoover is here represented here by Guardian
In as much as your petitioners desire a division of said land they would pray your worships appoint three freeholders to make such devision and devise to each one of your petitioners in severalty their portion of said land & as in duty bound your petitioners ever pray
